Sleep Apnea & Snoring Therapy

Sleep apnea is a sleep-related breathing disorder that occurs when you stop breathing whilst asleep. At Arc Dental Surrey Hills, we provide an alternative solution to a CPAP machine for treating the condition.

We custom fit Mandibular Advancement Splints to help improve your sleep.

Sleep apnea is caused by an obstruction of the airway due to relaxation of tissues at the back of the throat. It is often recognised by poor quality of sleep, breathing interruptions, loud snoring, excessive daytime sleepiness, irritability, poor concentration, and a dry mouth. Sleep apnea has also been shown to increase one’s risk of high blood pressure, heart attacks, heart failures and strokes.

Our Surrey Hills dental team offers an oral appliance called a Mandibular Advancement Splint (MAS) to treat snoring and obstructive sleep apnea while you sleep. It works to reposition the lower jaw, opens up the upper airway and prevents the tongue from blocking the throat. We work with your sleep physician to determine if you are a suitable candidate for the appliance.
